Mountain Education (ME) serves two categories of students: 

     1.  Program Students are enrolled in a “traditional” high school, are referred by that school to be served at ME, continue to follow their                                high school’s graduation requirements, and receive their high school’s diploma.

     2.  Full-time Students enroll at Mountain Education, follow ME graduation requirements, and receive a ME diploma.

In order to determine which category is appropriate for a particular student, the student’s age and current school enrollment status must be considered. Is the student currently enrolled in another high school?

• Yes

  • If a student is under 18, he/she must be referred to Mountain Education by their current school. He/she will be considered a Program Student at Mountain Education. 

    • Program Students who turn 18 after they have been referred to ME can withdraw from their current school and transfer to ME as a Full-time Student.

    • *Please note: Not all traditional schools refer students to ME.

  • If a student is between 18 and 21, he/she can withdraw from their current school and enroll as a Full-time Student at Mountain Education.

• No

  • If a student is under 18, he/she must enroll in a traditional high school and be referred as a Program Student to Mountain Education. 

    • *Please note: Not all traditional schools refer students to ME.

  • If a student is between 18 and 21, he she can enroll directly into Mountain Education as a Full-time Student.

Student Registration & Enrollment

Students who are over 18 that qulify may enroll in Mountain Education.

Full Time Student Registration Information

Mountain Education utilizes Online Registration powered by Infinite Campus for all enrollment needs.

Parents/guardians of students new to MECHS should register online. 

Parents/guardians can register one of the following ways:
1. Online Registration from anywhere with an internet connection (requires an email address)*
2. Online Registration via a Kiosk at your local MECHS Site (does not require an email address)*

Students who are 18 years old or older are required to register themselves through online registration.

Parents/guardians can upload required documentation while completing the online application, though it is not required. If a parent/guardian is unable to upload required documentation, please contact your local MECHS site’s Registrar. Your Registrar may be able to request documents from a previous school, or the parent/guardian can bring documents into the local MECHS Site Registrar. You should complete a new online registration application if you are registering a brand new student to MECHS and have never completed online registration before, if you are a student who has turned 18 and is self-registering for the first time, or if your student has a new parent or legal guardian registering him or her.

Helpful Hints Before You Begin:

• Have the following information available for all student's in your household:
  • Student's FULL Name (First, Middle, Last)
  • Student's Date of Birth
  • Student's FULL Social Security Number (**optional - see SSN information below)
  • Student’s Physical Address
• If possible, have the following documents ready to upload through online registration: (If you cannot upload these documents, please contact your local site’s Registrar.)
  • Withdrawal from from the last school attended
  • Current Transcript
  • Copy of Social Security Card
  • Copy of Birth Certificate
  • Current immunization record (Form 3231)
  • Eye, ear, and dental examination records (Form 3300)
• Write down your application number for reference
• Parents/guardians should have a valid email address
• Parents/guardians will be required to provide a form of identification as proof of identity. Parents may upload a copy of this identification through online registration or contact the Campus Registrar.

 

Registration can occur anytime during the year.

There is no charge for full-time students.

**Refusal to Provide a Social Security Number for Student Identification

Georgia law (20-2-0150) requires public school authorities to request from parents and guardians the Social Security number for students being enrolled in school. The Social Security number is to be incorporated into the official school record for the student. No student will be denied enrollment in a public school for declining to provide his or her Social Security number or for declining to apply for such a number. If a parent will not provide the student’s SSN, a generic SSN is assigned from our pool of state-assigned SSN. HOPE Scholarship Local Education Agencies (LEA) submit student transcript data to the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) beginning when the student is in 9th grade. Student transcripts submitted without SSN are not eligible to receive HOPE Scholarship.

Re-Registration

The Re-Registration Window is open now for our 2023-2024 School Year

Re-Registration occurs in August each school year. At the beginning of each new school year, all currently enrolled students are required to re-register. During the re-registration process, parents/guardians/students will update their information and sign all of the required annual forms.

To re-register, parents/guardians of students under the age of 18 will log in to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to update their online application and complete re-registration*. Students 18 years of age and older will login to the Infinite Campus Student Portal to complete re-registration. (Note: If a student recently turned 18 and is self-registering for the first time, the student will need to complete online registration as a new student.)

All parents/guardians are given a Parent Portal account when their student enrolls at Mountain Education. Parents can complete re-registration from any computer with internet access. If a parent does not have access to a computer with internet, he/she can come to the local Mountain Education Campus and re-register from the Mountain Education kiosk. If you have questions about your Parent Portal account, including questions about your username or password, please reach out to your Campus Registrar for assistance. Students who are 18 years old or older should complete re-registration on their own behalf.
